The Audioengine A2+ speaker set has been available since 2007, with a Bluetooth-enabled version introduced in 2019. The latest iteration, the A2+ Next Gen, features upgraded Bluetooth connectivity and includes a USB-C port.
The current model of the Audioengine A2+ has been on the market for approximately six years. It is reported that more than 300,000 units of the Audioengine A2 and A2+ have been sold. Originally launched in 2007, the A2 has now transformed into the Audioengine A2+ Next Gen Home Music System, boasting Bluetooth 5.3, 24-bit audio quality, and USB-C connectivity.
This system fundamentally functions as a two-way master/slave setup utilizing Class AB amplifiers. The primary speaker acts as both the master and the left speaker, incorporating the necessary wireless and wired source connections, as well as the amplifiers to drive both speakers. Conversely, the secondary speaker, identified as the slave and located on the right, is passive and connects to the primary speaker via standard speaker terminals.
With 24-bit audio, sound is captured with enhanced accuracy, leading to a more authentic listening experience after it is processed by the A2+’s integrated DAC. The A2+ Home Music System offers both digital (now including USB-C) and analog inputs, providing versatile usage options, potentially on either side of a computer monitor or television. It is important to note that there is no HDMI connection, nor is there a built-in phono amplifier.
The cabinet of the A2+ is constructed from genuine wood and showcases hand-painted finishes, crafted through the same meticulous 13-step process utilized for baby grand pianos.
The AudioEngine A2+ is available in black, white, red, and blue. Pricing and delivery details have not yet been disclosed.
