Accuphase A-80: class A powerful stereo amplifier

Accuphase A-80
Accuphase A-80

Japanese company Accuphase has released a new stereo power amplifier, the A-80 , operating in pure Class A.

ImageOn the front panel of the device there are large indicators showing the output signal level in Watts and decibels. The power supply is built on a huge shielded toroidal transformer, the capacity of the filter capacitors is 120,000 microfarads . The amplifier has an output power of 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms. As befits a device built according to a class A circuit, when the load is halved, the output power doubles. That is, at 4 Ohms the Accuphase A-80 already produces 130 Watts , at 2 Ohms – 260 Watts , up to 520 Watts at 1 Ohm.

ImageThe model can operate in bridge mode in a monoblock format, in which the power indicators at a load of 8 ohms are already 260 watts . The output stage contains 20 MOS-FET transistors, the declared dumping factor reaches 1000 units due to the very low output resistance. With dimensions of 465 x 240 x 515 mm, the amplifier weighs 44.6 kg .
