Java Hifi Launches Carbon Fiber Amplifiers and New R2R DAC with Analog Devices Chips

Java Hifi has announced new amplifiers with carbon fiber housings. These are essentially existing models, but with significant technical improvements. The company has also launched a new digital-to-analog converter.

Since their launch in January 2024, the Carbon Edition integrated amplifiers have been among the best-selling products in Java Hifi's portfolio. Global customer interest has prompted the designers to explore how the carbon fiber cabinet could be applied to other products.

“A number of customers have asked us if we were planning to produce Carbon versions of our preamplifiers and power amplifiers. They've spoken, and we've listened!” says Martin Bell, founder and CEO of Java Hifi . Like the Carbon editions of the integrated amplifiers, the Java Carbon preamplifiers and power amplifiers feature several notable innovations that, according to the manufacturer, elevate the listening experience. These include:

• Carbon fiber outer casing (9 millimeters thick) for superior vibration dampening and to reduce the influence of RFI and EMI on the circuitry
• ETI Research Silver RCA Connectors
• ETI Research Kryo speaker terminals (both GaN FET amplifier models)
• IsoAcoustics Gaia IV feet for improved vibration isolation of printed circuit boards and other internal components

Java Hifi: expansion and renewal of the range of integrated amplifiers

The New Zealand manufacturer has also added several new models to its range of integrated amplifiers.

The Java Single Shot 400 doubles the power of the current Single Shot integrated amplifier from 200 watts/8 ohms to 400 watts/8 ohms. The Double Shot 200 retains the fully balanced configuration of the Double Shot integrated amplifier but delivers 200 watts/8 ohms (compared to 400 watts/8 ohms for the existing Double Shot) at a lower price.

Java Hifi: R2R ladder DA converter with DAC chips from Analog Devices

Another notable feature of Java Hifi's updated portfolio is the addition of a new, powerful R2R ladder DAC controlled by a proprietary linear power controller.

The new USB DAC replaces the current Burr-Brown-based DAC and features two AD1865 chips from Analog Devices. These 18-bit, non-oversampling chips can play files up to 768 kHz and are known for their natural, organic, and fatigue-free sound.

MSB adjustment is standard on the AD1865 DAC, precisely adjusting the most significant bit (MSB) to improve the linearity of the DAC, particularly around the zero point. This ensures smooth transitions and eliminates any residual distortion. The Double Shot models feature a dedicated DAC circuit board for each channel in a fully balanced configuration to eliminate crosstalk and further improve measured performance.
