The T+A A 200 power amplifier represents a significant evolution over its predecessor, the AMP 8, with notable design and technical refinements. While it is ideally paired with the T+A DAC 200, it also functions perfectly as a standalone power amplifier. With its updated architecture and expanded capabilities, the A 200 emerges as a compelling and highly versatile addition to the brand’s lineup—and here’s why it stands out.

In addition to its refined MIDI-format chassis, the A 200 features discreetly integrated heatsink grilles that are as functional as they are subtle. Beneath its compact exterior lies serious performance—this is a true powerhouse, capable of delivering up to 250 watts into 4 ohms. Naturally, that level of output generates heat, but the amplifier is engineered to manage it efficiently without compromise.
At its core, the A 200 is built around high-performance PURIFI Class D modules, developed by the renowned Danish company focused on pushing amplifier technology to its limits. With Bruno Putzeys—known for pioneering UcD at Philips and the highly regarded Ncore modules at Hypex—among its founders, PURIFI brings exceptional expertise to the table. The result is an output stage that combines precision, efficiency, and remarkably low distortion, setting a new standard for modern Class D amplification.

However, T+A’s engineers didn’t stop at simply implementing state-of-the-art PURIFI modules. They went a step further by integrating their own proprietary High Voltage architecture into the output stage. This additional refinement elevates the A 200 beyond already cutting-edge Class D designs, pushing its technical performance to an even higher—and arguably exceptional—level.

Among the standout features is the ability to adjust the speaker damping factor, allowing the amplifier to tightly control demanding loudspeakers or adopt a more relaxed character with easier loads. The A/B speaker switching supports two pairs of speakers, making it suitable for flexible system setups, including bi-wiring. Around back, alongside the standard RCA and XLR inputs, you’ll also find an XLR output—ideal for linking a second power amplifier, enabling full bi-amping or scaling up overall system power.
