Exposure DAC: High-Resolution British DAC with 99-Step Volume Control and Power Amp Output

British hi-fi manufacturer Exposure Hifi has announced the Exposure DAC, a digital-to-analog converter featuring a 99-step digital volume control and a high output signal. The Exposure DAC can therefore be connected directly to a power amplifier.

The new DAC from UK-based Exposure Electronics (or Exposure Hifi) is, according to the manufacturer, designed for music lovers who want more than just “good sound.” It's designed to deliver superior clarity, dynamics, and musicality, all packaged in an elegant and durable design.

The role of a good DAC cannot be underestimated in today's world of streaming and digital music. A DAC, whether separate or integrated into a preamplifier, integrated amplifier, or streamer, forms the heart of almost every modern hi-fi system. The Exposure DAC performs only DAC conversion. Streaming functions and analog inputs are omitted. The new DAC does feature a 99-step digital volume control and can therefore be connected directly to a power amplifier, either via RCA or XLR.

With support for translating both PCM and DSD music signals, the Exposure DAC unlocks every musical detail, from the softest nuances to the most daring crescendo. With seven S/PDIF inputs supporting sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz PCM, plus USB up to 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD256, the DAC is ready for virtually any digital source. Analogue music signal is output via RCA (2.1 Volts fixed or up to 4.8 Volts variable) and XLR (4.2 Volts fixed or up to 9.4 Volts variable).

At the heart of the power supply is a dedicated toroidal transformer with a hum filter, which, combined with a low-noise power supply, ensures ultra-quiet background noise, so the listener only hears the music. The DAC's all-aluminum casing not only looks beautiful but also controls resonance and shields against electromagnetic fields, ensuring pristine performance. A white OLED display with adjustable brightness, a convenient remote control, and adjustable volume settings upon power-up make operating the DAC intuitive and easy.
