Topping D900 is a new DAC and preamplifier for a high-end home system. The device is built on a fully discrete PSRM (Pure Reference Switching Module) architecture, developed from scratch by Topping engineers. In this system, the reference voltage is created by a passive resistive divider without noisy stabilizers, and the switching logic operates at nanosecond speeds, which allows achieving distortion below -140 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 131 dB.
The signal after digital-to-analog conversion goes to its own I/V converter on low-noise op-amps and selected discrete components, ensuring stable transmission of even minimal dynamic changes. The preamplifier stage is implemented separately and allows direct connection of active acoustics. Volume control is implemented with a step of 0.5 dB and the ability to set the level for each input.
The DAC supports many digital inputs: two USB (B and C), I²S-LVDS over HDMI, AES/EBU, coaxial and optical inputs. Bluetooth 5.1 with support for LDAC and other modern codecs is also provided. For headphones or speakers, you can configure a 10-band PEQ with detailed band adjustment and saving user profiles.
The front panel is equipped with a color Aurora UI display, trigger input and output allow using the D900 as part of a system with power-on synchronization. And to complete the stack, a separate headphone amplifier A900 is expected.
