The Esoteric N-03T is compatible with 2.8/5.6MHz DSD, 192kHz/24-bit PCM, and a variety of other formats (DSF, DSDIFF, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF, MP3, and AAC), and provides gapless playback. Esoteric has developed the Sound Stream iPad app for Apple iOS to control network playback. It lets you search and select tracks on the iPad screen, view album art, create personal playlists, and play playlist selections. (A similar app for iPhone and Android is in development.) The N-05 can be used as a simplified music server by connecting a large-capacity drive to the rear USB port. Even owners unfamiliar with NAS data structures can easily get started. The high-precision VCXO (voltage controlled crystal oscillator) clock generator supplies extremely precise clock pulses to all digital circuits. For the N-03T, it was specially developed jointly with Nihon Dempa Kogyo (NDK), a leading manufacturer of quartz crystals for oscillators, for high-quality audio reproduction. As the cornerstone of high-quality sound, its large quartz crystal ensures excellent frequency accuracy (±0.5ppm, factory-exit) as well as extremely low phase noise.
By connecting the Esoteric N-03T to the external G-02 clock generator, even more precise synchronization can be achieved, resulting in a significant improvement in sound quality. Esoteric N-03T is compatible with 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz word clock frequencies, as well as 10MHz and 22MHz direct link (bypassing the PLL circuit)
