Fezz Audio has launched a new headphone amplifier called the Ovo Evolution. The Ovo Evolution operates in Class A and features a circuitry equipped with EL84 valves. Several headphone jacks are mounted on the front panel. Its functionality can be expanded with three different optional modules. The Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution is available in a variety of colors.
Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution: single-ended triode design
With the Ovo Evolution, Polish manufacturer Fezz Audio introduces a new headphone amplifier designed for use with high-quality, and potentially even difficult-to-drive, headphones. The designers based this on a Class A single-ended triode design. The output stage features EL84 tubes, complemented by carefully crafted output transformers from manufacturer Toroidy. A combination that, according to Fezz Audio, is designed to deliver precise, spatially stable sound.
Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution: inputs and outputs
The Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution supports headphone impedances between 16 and 600 Ohms, with three impedance ranges switchable directly on the device.
The device offers three headphone outputs: one 6.35mm jack, one 4.4mm Pentaconn, and one balanced XLR connector. Balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (phono) inputs are available for music signal input. There are also XLR and RCA outputs for passing the signal to an amplifier.
Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution: Expansion options
The headphone amplifier has only analog circuitry onboard, but the manufacturer offers expansion options in the form of optional modules. Users can choose to add a Bluetooth module, a module with digital inputs and a DAC, and a module with a phono amplifier. There's only room for one module, so the user will have to make a choice.
The Bluetooth module supports current standards such as aptX and AAC. The digital module offers coaxial and optical inputs and is based on an AKM DAC chip. The phono module is suitable for MM cartridges.
Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution: price and delivery information
The Fezz Audio Ovo Evolution is available in seven different colors, some of which are available for an additional fee. The base price is just under €3,500. An expansion module costs just under €300, regardless of the model.
