Lumïn has announced the P2, a new networked music hub designed to be at the heart of a modern, high-end audio system by combining streaming, digital to digital conversion, and pre-amplification in a single enclosure.
Lumïn P2 Network Music Hub

The Lumïn P2 builds on the technology and functionality of the previous P1 (also read our Lumïn P1 review ). The new model combines Lumïn's latest processing platform with DAC technology derived from the company's flagship X-series components. The result, according to Lumïn, is greater processing capability and improved precision in both signal processing and analog output.

At the heart of the P2 is Lumïn's latest System-on-Chip processor architecture, which the company claims significantly increases the available processing power for tasks like upsampling and digital signal management. The P2 thus supports playback of digital music signals up to PCM 32-bit/384kHz and native DSD512 resolution, placing it firmly among the top-tier of today's network players.

The DAC is closer to Lumïn's reference models and uses two ESS ES9038PRO SABRE DAC chips in a dual-mono configuration. The analog output stage also borrows elements from the company's top models, with Lundahl output transformers intended to maintain signal isolation and channel separation.
Lumïn P2: linear power supply with two toroidal transformers

This architecture is supported by a newly integrated linear power supply based on two toroidal transformers housed within the P2's full-width enclosure. According to the designers, the separate analog and digital power supply rails help maintain stability and reduce noise in the signal path.
The P2 continues the P1's so-called “hub” concept and offers a wide range of connectivity options for both hi-fi and media sources. It features a total of nine digital and analog inputs, including USB, balanced and unbalanced analog connections, SPDIF, AES, and HDMI.
HDMI support has been expanded to HDMI 2.0 with 4K passthrough and ARC compatibility, allowing the device to function as the audio center of a two-channel TV system. CEC volume control has also been added to simplify integration with television systems.
Lumïn P2: precise clock system

Timing accuracy is ensured by a dual femto-clock system, with Lumïn utilizing FPGA-based distribution to minimize jitter and maintain precise signal timing. For network connectivity, the P2 also supports fiber optic networks, providing galvanic isolation from conventional Ethernet networks to reduce electrical interference in the audio chain.
Like other models in the series, the P2 is controlled via Lumïn's proprietary app for iOS and Android, and also supports third-party platforms such as Roon, JPLAY, and Audirvana. Streaming services available through the platform include Spotify Connect, Tidal (with Tidal Max support), Qobuz, KKBOX, TuneIn, Amazon Music, and AirPlay.

Lumïn positions the P2 as a flexible component that can function as a standalone streamer, a DAC, a digital preamplifier, or as the central hub for a complete two-channel system. The company also suggests pairing the P2 with its own Lumïn Amp , a two-channel power amplifier, using the platform's Leedh Processing lossless volume control to directly drive a power amplifier without the need for a traditional analog preamplifier.
