Luxsin X9: Headphone amplifier and DA converter
Luxsin X9: Headphone amplifier and DA converter

The Luxsin X9 serves as both a headphone amplifier and a digital-to-analog converter, marking the inaugural offering from a new brand. While Luxsin is a newcomer in the market, the X9 has been crafted by the same team responsible for the products of Eversolo Audio.

Luxsin Audio is a fresh brand, yet it is backed by a company that has established a solid reputation with another relatively new brand. This company is Zidoo Technology Co. Ltd., which is widely recognized for its Eversolo Audio brand, known for manufacturing and selling digital-to-analog converters and network players. To gain insight into Eversolo, you may also want to check out our reviews of the Eversolo DMP-A6 and DMP-A8.

The newly launched brand Luxsin Audio aims to concentrate on desktop audio, with the Luxsin X9 marking its inaugural product. This device serves as a headphone amplifier and digital-to-analog (DA) converter, and it can also function as a preamplifier. Despite being a new brand, the development team behind Luxsin is the same as that of Eversolo Audio, ensuring that they possess the necessary expertise for product development.

What features does the Luxsin X9 offer? The designers assert that the Luxsin X9 is engineered to meet the highest standards, utilizing not only innovative concepts and cutting-edge technologies but also exclusively high-quality components. The DA converter within the Luxsin X9 incorporates the latest advancements, capable of processing digital music signals with a resolution of up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512.

Signal processing with DSP

The Luxsin X9 features signal processing supported by a digital signal processor (DSP). According to the manufacturer, it offers profiles with specific correction curves for a diverse array of headphones. Additionally, the Luxsin X9's robust platform can automatically measure a headphone's impedance upon connection, allowing the output stage to operate at an optimal level. This capability is intriguing, though its practical application remains to be evaluated.

Currently, visual materials are limited, but initial images reveal a color information display featuring VU meters. It is presumed that the four-inch screen can present additional information. The Luxsin X9 includes an HDMI port with Audio Return Channel (ARC) support, although it lacks built-in streaming capabilities.

The analog output stage of the Luxsin X9 employs an R2R volume control system, which utilizes a high-precision resistor network activated by relays to adjust the volume. For headphone connections, there is an unbalanced 6.35 mm jack, along with balanced options provided by a 4.4 mm Pentaconn and a 4-pin XLR.

At this time, the release date and pricing details for the new Luxsin X9 remain uncertain.
