Pro-Ject Audio Systems has released a compact headphone amplifier, the Head Box E, designed for desktop use. The Head Box E excels in simplicity and features exclusively analog circuitry. The front panel features a 3.5mm and a 6.35mm jack for headphones.

The Head Box E's unusually high output power, according to the manufacturer, delivers top-quality sound and sufficient volume, even for high-volume listening using low-sensitivity headphones. The Head Box E offers a rich, full sound with plenty of dynamics and transparency. Its rated power is 665 mW with an impedance of 32 ohms. The frequency response is 20 Hz to 80 kHz (+/- 0.2 dB).
The fully discrete headphone amplifier dispenses with cheaper integrated chip designs, but features fully discrete electronics mounted on a professionally designed printed circuit board. This not only results in fantastic power measurements with clear readings but also guarantees a long product lifespan, as maintenance, service, and repairs are guaranteed for years to come.
Only the finest components were used to create this unique headphone amplifier. The housing is made entirely of metal to effectively shield it from electromagnetic interference and vibrations, which can cause unpleasant listening experiences. The front panel and controls are crafted from beautifully machined aluminum. The housing measures 103 x 37 x 120 millimeters (W x H x D), and the Head Box E weighs 390 grams.
The Head Box E is powered via USB-C. Alternatively, power can be supplied by Pro-Ject Audio's optional external power supply, the Accu Box S2 or Accu Box S2 USB.
The Head Box E retails for just under 120 euros.
