Sonoro Audio GmbH has launched a new all-in-one stereo table radio called the Avaton. The Avaton features five drivers: a tweeter and a mid-range driver for each channel, while the lowest frequencies are handled by a single subwoofer at the bottom. Each driver has its own Class D amplifier. Buyers can choose from three versions.

Sonoro Avaton: compact 2.1-channel sound system

Sonoro offers a wide range of table radios, and the Avaton is its latest model. The Avaton measures 510 x 262 x 140 millimeters (W x D x H). Its design is entirely in keeping with Sonoro's long-standing tradition. The Avaton features a hand-sanded wooden cabinet with a high-quality lacquer finish and an aluminum front panel. Customers can choose from matte white with silver, matte black with black, and matte graphite with silver.

Designed as a 2.1-channel system, the Sonoro Avaton features two 0.75-inch tweeters, two 3-inch midrange drivers, and an integrated subwoofer in the form of a 5.25-inch driver for optimal performance across the entire frequency range.

Signal processing is handled by DSP, which, in addition to an equalizer, also provides algorithms such as 3D sound and dynamic bass. The speakers described in the Sonoro Avaton are powered by five Class D amplifier modules.

Sonoro Avaton: various sources for flexible use

The Sonoro Avaton features several interfaces for external sources, including an HDMI port for connecting a television, with support for ARC and CEC (for remote control). In addition to a USB-A port, the new Sonoro Avaton also has a USB-C port.

Furthermore, the Sonoro Avaton features both a coaxial and an optical S/PDIF interface for digital sources. There are two line inputs, one with RCA and the other with a 3.5mm jack. For headphones, the Avaton has a 3.5mm jack.

For radio enthusiasts, the Sonoro Avaton is equipped with both an FM and DAB tuner. And of course, there's internet radio too.

Sonoro Avaton: streaming in all forms

Network connectivity is available wirelessly via Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11ax) or with a UTP cable connected to the RJ45 LAN port. Once connected, the Avaton offers all common streaming options, including DLNA, UPnP, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, and Qobuz Connect. Internet radio is available, with the ability to store 99 stations for quick selection.

It's also worth mentioning that the Sonoro Avaton is suitable for integration into smart home solutions. In this area, Sonoro collaborates with the German brands JUNG, Gira, and Busch & Jäger.

Bluetooth is, of course, a must-have and is therefore included. Interestingly, it's a Bluetooth transceiver module, meaning it can both receive and transmit signals. This allows for the integration of smartphones as source devices, as well as Bluetooth headphones. The Sonoro Avaton even supports the Auracast standard via Bluetooth LE Audio.

Sonoro Avaton: simple operation

In addition to a 4-inch TFT color display, the front panel features a series of buttons and a rotary knob for easy operation. The Sonoro Avaton comes with a matching IR remote control, and the Sonoro audio app also offers smartphone control.

Sonoro Avaton: price and delivery information

According to the manufacturer's website, the new Sonoro Avaton will be available from early October for a suggested retail price of just under 1,200 euros.
