Volumio has announced the Primo Plus, a digital-to-analog converter with streaming features. The Primo Plus is an evolution of the earlier Volumio Primo, offering improvements and greater versatility.

The Primo Plus isn't just an improved version of the Primo; according to the manufacturer, it's a completely new design based on two years of research and development in the field of network players and digital-to-analog converters. Compared to the Primo, the Primo Plus offers significantly more in every respect. The dual-mono design of the digital-to-analog converter with two ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chips delivers exceptionally high resolution with virtually no crosstalk, the improved power supply and operational amplifiers guarantee the lowest possible distortion, and the new clock design, according to the designers, ensures virtually jitter-free playback. Furthermore, customers get even more digital inputs for connecting all their digital sources and the latest VolumioOS with a wealth of features.

Like all Volumio products, the Primo Plus is handcrafted in the heart of Florence, Tuscany. The name “Primo Plus” itself is a tribute to the Italian heritage. Primo is the Italian word for “first,” indicating that the original Primo was the very first product Volumio ever developed. And perhaps unnecessarily, “Plus” is the Latin word for “more,” because this new model truly offers so much more than the first-generation Primo.
The Primo Plus has an analog RCA output and an XLR output.
The Volumio Primo Plus changes owners for just under $1,200.
