The McIntosh MX170 A/V processor, with support for 4K Ultra HD, HDR, and immersive 3D surround sound, allows you to fully enjoy movie watching in the comfort of your home.
The McIntosh MX170 features 8 HDMI inputs and 4 HDMI outputs, powered by the latest and most powerful HDMI processors available. Each HDMI port supports HDCP 2.2 and offers 18 Gbps of bandwidth for full 4K Ultra HD support and 4:4:4 color depth. Three outputs support Audio Return Channel (ARC), while the fourth supports an enhanced version (eARC). eARC support offers improved audio bandwidth with higher resolutions to ensure the best possible sound quality.

The McIntosh MX170 also supports HDR, HDR10, Dolby Vision™, and HLG. When watching videos that support one of these formats, you'll see dramatic improvements in color, contrast, and brightness. A dedicated HDBaseT output prevents signal loss or degradation when the MX170 is located far from the screen. It also features 3D video pass-through, putting viewers right in the middle of the action when watching their favorite 3D movies.
In terms of audio, the new McIntosh MX170 is compatible with all leading object-based 3D surround sound formats, including Dolby® Atmos, DTS:X™, and Auro-3D. The processor features built-in RoomPerfect™ room correction technology, which measures and adjusts the audio output to compensate for the specific acoustic properties of a room. As a result, you get incredible flexibility in the placement of speaker systems, which in any layout will be perfectly matched with each other and one or more subwoofers.

The McIntosh MX170 features balanced outputs for a 15.1 surround sound speaker configuration. This allows multiple speakers in a theater to create an even more immersive cinematic soundstage. If the system has a smaller number of speakers, four of the outputs can be used to bi-amp some speakers or to drive additional subwoofers.
The McIntosh MX170 features a full complement of digital inputs, including four optical, three coaxial, and one USB, each accepting signals up to 24-bit/192kHz, as well as one AES/EBU input. A full complement of analog audio inputs is also available, consisting of two balanced XLR and four unbalanced RCA inputs, a phono input, and a 7.1 multi-channel unbalanced input. All analog and digital devices can be individually named for simplified system operation. Volume levels across different inputs can be matched to prevent abrupt volume changes when switching between sources. Bass and treble controls provide additional sound customization to suit your preferences.

Easy-to-use and reliable setup program allows for extensive customization and optimization of the McIntosh MX170 to suit each user's needs.
