Today, April 4th, Hong Kong-based Audfly officially unveiled its new device called the Focusound, which is a rather unusual speaker. The fact is that the design of this gadget simply does not have the usual components – the novelty is a glass panel with a small black frame. And this, in fact, is the whole structure, which, at the same time, is capable of playing music at a fairly good quality, while possessing a certain list of extremely important features. For example, this speaker can play music to one user in a room without disturbing other people.
To do this, the manufacturer uses ultrasound technology – it allows you to form a directional sound, conditionally immersing the listener in a “sound bubble”. This means that the person to whom this speaker is directed will listen to music or, for example, a podcast, while other people in the room who are not in the “bubble” simply will not hear this sound. Due to this, in the living room one person can watch a movie, the second one will listen to music and play sports, and the third one will calmly start a podcast and draw, but no one will interfere with the content of another person.
Focusound
However, the idea of using ultrasound to form a directional sound beam is not in itself something incredibly new, so Audfly engineers decided to go even further by making the Focusound completely out of transparent glass. This is the first of its kind transparent device, which is the result of many years of research and development in this direction.
However, the design consists not only of glass – conditionally, the speaker can be divided into two separate components. The first is a laminated glass panel, inside of which there are many compact vibrating elements capable of directing sound in a rather narrow field directly to the listener.
This glass is placed inside an aluminum frame with a stand that allows you to adjust the angle of the device in relation to the user. The developers even noted that you can safely place photos behind the speaker, as this does not affect the sound quality at all.

The same aluminum frame contains all the speaker electronics, including a device for receiving a signal from a source. You can transmit sound literally from anywhere – from a computer, TV, smartphone, game console or just via Bluetooth. However, the developers immediately decided to clarify that although Focusound has a good sound, it will definitely not impress music lovers. The sound quality here is clearly not in the first place.
