British loudspeaker manufacturer Harbeth has revised five of its loudspeaker models. The new speakers have been given the XD2 suffix to their name. Chief designer Alan Shaw Harbeth states that the XD2 models are the “clearest speakers Harbeth has ever produced.”

The core of the XD2 series is a revision of the drivers that the British manufacturer produces itself. The injection molding process with which the cone of the drivers is made has been improved so that these factory-own and unique drivers sound even more transparent and realistic, according to the makers.
The increase in clarity has meant that the crossovers have had to be improved, with some models, such as the M40.5 XD2, receiving additional tuning and cabinet bracing. This produces tighter, deeper bass without altering the tonal balance that Harbeth is renowned for.
