Inklang Ceterra 70R Black Edition: Handcrafted German High-End Audio

Hamburg-based loudspeaker manufacturer Inklang has officially opened orders for its new high-end flagship, the Ceterra 70R Black Edition. First unveiled in September, this reference-class floorstander is strictly limited to just 30 pairs worldwide and is now available for private listening sessions at Stilwerk Hamburg.

The essence of Inklang

With the Ceterra 70R Black Edition, Inklang distills more than a decade of brand experience and nearly two years of focused development into a single statement product. The name Ceterra—derived from Centrum and Terra—symbolizes the idea of anchoring music to a stable, fundamental core.

Visually, the speaker follows Inklang’s unmistakable design language. The 117 cm tall cabinet is finished in elegant satin black and features a sharply angled front baffle. Handcrafted details play a key role: sculpted side “gills” and distinctive phase plugs made from oiled walnut add warmth and artisanal character to the otherwise minimalist form.

Engineering and driver configuration

The Ceterra 70R Black Edition is a 3.5-way bass-reflex floorstander with a rear-firing port. Inklang relies on carefully selected high-end drivers, including two 190 mm aluminum woofers and two 120 mm midrange units, both designed with extremely low-distortion motor systems for fast transient response and high impulse accuracy.

High frequencies are handled by a 19 mm ring radiator tweeter with a neodymium magnet, chosen for its precise imaging and expansive, airy soundstage.

Fine tuning at the terminals

A standout feature is the rear bi-amping terminal, which not only supports multiple amplifier configurations but also allows subtle tonal tuning. Using integrated switches, listeners can adjust midrange and treble output in three steps (+1 dB, 0 dB, or –1 dB), making it easier to adapt the speaker to room acoustics and personal taste.

Another feature is the bi-amping terminal on the back.

Specifications at a glance

Inklang specifies a frequency response of 30 Hz to 40 kHz, with a maximum power handling of 360 watts. Nominal impedance is 4 ohms, dipping to a minimum of 3.6 ohms. Each speaker measures 201 mm wide (287 mm including the base), 1170 mm high, and 445 mm deep, with a substantial weight of 36.5 kg, firmly placing it in the category of large, reference-grade floorstanders.

Availability and price

The Inklang Ceterra 70R Black Edition carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of approximately $7,000 per speaker. According to Inklang, the first deliveries are expected to begin in mid-January 2026.
