JBL Studio 698: Three-way classic speaker system

JBL Studio 698 is a three-way speaker system that occupies the highest position in the Studio 6 series. This model uses a 6-inch driver to provide mid-range sound, and a pair of 8-inch woofers are responsible for transmitting bass. The speakers boast a long diffuser stroke and reliable suspensions made of rubber. The diffusers are made of the company's patented PolyPlas composite material, which is essentially a lightweight “sandwich” consisting of two layers of polymer and a cellulose base placed between them.

Thanks to this solution, it is possible to increase rigidity and minimize the influence of parasitic resonances. The speaker membranes have special concentric rings. This relief texture increases the diffuser’s ability to resist all sorts of unwanted deformations and bends. As a result, the sound becomes clearer, more accurate and natural, which allows you to truly enjoy not only movie soundtracks, but also high-quality stereo recordings.

The high frequency range is at the disposal of an inch compression tweeter equipped with a neodymium alloy magnetic system. The tweeter is integrated into a fairly large rectangular HDI (High Definition Imaging) horn. This design of the HF driver provides a wide, uniform dispersion of sound waves, as well as clear, detailed and realistic sound.

The JBL Studio 698 speaker system has a perfectly damped 36-kilogram body with rounded edges that reduce diffraction. Smooth design lines, a lacquered top panel and a quality woodgrain vinyl finish (available in two color schemes) allow this speaker to perfectly match any modern interior. A pair of bass reflex ports with optimized geometry are built into the rear of the speaker, which makes it possible to get rid of the overtones of the cabinet. Thanks to the presence of four screw terminals, it becomes possible to organize a “biwiring” or “biamping” connection. To protect the emitters, a removable fabric grill with a plastic frame is used, which is attached to the front panel using magnets. The model is equipped with a set of spikes.

JBL Studio 698 is a universal floor-standing speaker that will do an excellent job of sounding the “fronts” in a serious cinema set and will perform excellently in classic stereo.
