MartinLogan Motion Foundation B2: Beautiful High-end speakers

Motion Foundation B2
Motion Foundation B2

MartinLogan's new line of loudspeaker systems, the Motion Foundation, consists of five models – two floorstanders (F1 and F2), two bookshelf speakers (B1 and B2) and a center channel speaker (C1). A distinctive feature of the new products: Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion S pleated diaphragm ribbon tweeters and Controlled Dispersion technology.

MartinLogan has equipped its new entry-level Motion Foundation Series speakers with a Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion S ribbon tweeter. The pleated diaphragm design allows for a larger surface area, resulting in “incredible detail and clarity with stunning realism.” The Folded Motion waveguide corrects the radiation pattern, avoiding harmful reflections.

The advantage of the tweeters used is the increased surface area of the diaphragm; the innovation made it possible to achieve very high detail and sound purity and maintain the compactness of the speaker cabinets of the new series. Controlled dispersion technology optimizes room acoustics and minimizes negative effects associated with speaker placement in a room. The sound is focused and directed towards the listening area, so room features have less impact on the quality of playback.

Midrange and bass speakers are of a new design; they are created using technologies that have proven themselves in models of the Motion XT and Motion brand series. Center channel loudspeaker – 2.5-way; Anti-Lobing design prevents tonal distortion and ensures high fidelity audio playback. MartinLogan engineers were able to avoid increasing the volume of the speaker housing: consumers do not have to worry that the speaker will not fit in the AV cabinet or that it will not have enough space on the shelf under the TV.

According to the manufacturer, the new series of speakers is a “game changer” – both for MartinLogan itself and for the entire high-end audio segment – thanks to “outstanding sound quality” at a price that is affordable to a fairly wide range of consumers.
