Norwegian loudspeaker specialist Sigberg Audio has officially unveiled the SBS Generation 2, the next chapter in its compact, high-performance active speaker concept. Building on the critically praised SBS.1 from 2021, the new model promises true floorstanding-level sound from a surprisingly compact enclosure—without compromise on dynamics, bass depth, or tonal realism.

At first glance, the SBS Gen 2 stays true to the original idea: a space-efficient, active loudspeaker designed for serious listening. Look closer, and it becomes clear that almost every key element has been refined. Sigberg Audio has reworked the entire system with lessons learned from its flagship MANTA platform, bringing flagship DNA down into a smaller, more accessible form factor.
A smarter driver, cleaner design
One of the most visible upgrades is the newly developed mid-bass driver. It now features a laser-etched Fibonacci pattern and an aluminum phase plug, both engineered to reduce cone resonances and improve clarity through the critical midrange. Crossover networks have also been revised, resulting in better integration between drivers and a more seamless presentation from top to bottom.
The system is available in two new satin finishes, including a luxurious “Shady White” with a contrasting gray grille and a deep satin black called “Jet Black.”
The industrial design has been subtly refreshed as well. Lines are cleaner, proportions tighter, and the overall look more in line with Sigberg Audio’s larger models. Active, coherent, and brutally capable
Technically, the SBS Generation 2 remains unapologetically ambitious. The four-way, closed-box active design is powered by Hypex nCore Class D amplification and controlled by an active crossover architecture. The result is exceptional phase coherence and impulse response, translating into a soundstage that feels precise, spacious, and unforced.
Despite its compact size, the SBS Gen 2 delivers the intense impact and low frequencies typically found only in larger floor-standing speaker systems.
Bass reaches deep—down to 26 Hz within tight tolerances, and even lower in-room—while distortion stays vanishingly low, even at high playback levels. With a maximum sound pressure level of 114 dB at one meter, the SBS Gen 2 has no trouble moving from late-night jazz to full-tilt electronic or metal without strain or listening fatigue.
Connectivity is equally comprehensive, with balanced XLR, RCA, optical, coaxial, and AES digital inputs, alongside a manual 9-band parametric EQ and factory presets for easier room integration.

Despite its compact footprint, the SBS Gen 2 is designed as part of a modular system. Sigberg Audio built it from the ground up to work seamlessly with one or more subwoofers, including the company’s own Inkognito and 10D models. The integration is plug-and-play, allowing users to scale the system into a true full-range setup that rivals much larger loudspeaker systems—without taking over the room.

Pricing and availability
The Sigberg Audio SBS Generation 2 is available to order now, with a 15% early-bird discount. First deliveries are scheduled for March 2026. Pricing for the modular SBS system starts at €10,500, including a single Inkognito subwoofer.
