Totem Acoustic's latest two-way monitor speaker, the Loon, is set to premiere at the upcoming Axpona event in the United States. The manufacturer has stated that the Loon is specifically crafted to complement the Totem Bison series when used as rear channels.
The Loon from Totem Acoustic is a two-way bass reflex design with a 1-inch laser-etched textile soft dome tweeter and a 5.75-inch woofer that features a copper-clad voice coil. The manufacturer specifies a nominal impedance of eight ohms and a sensitivity of 87 dB (1 Watt). The Loon is not a bass monster because that is not possible with this size. The frequency range is from 51 Hz to 26 kHz (± 3 dB) and crossover occurs at 2.5 kHz (first order).
“The Loon offers very straight forward placement. It is a virtually plug n' play speaker that delivers great sounds even when listening from more than 45 degrees off axis. The bass is deep and tight, yet not overdone, with excellent impact, all from a very small cabinet. Furthermore, there is absolutely no sense of boxiness in the sound and the voices never sound overloaded,” explains Vince Bruzzese of Totem Acoustic.
The Loon measures 153 x 213 x 273 millimeters (W x D x H) and a single Loon weighs 3.86 kilograms. The Loon will soon be available in Black Ash, Black Walnut and Satin White, including matching magnetic cover fronts.
