Serbia-based Soulines has launched a new turntable called the tt23. The dimensions and shape of the plinth and base of the tt23 table have been optimized using the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci series. These were used to give the table uniform vibration damping and reduce the moment of inertia in all three planes (i.e., along all three axes) toward the center of gravity.
The number 23 in the tt23's type designation was also carefully chosen. Soulines says the following: “Besides its personal significance for us, the number 23 has symbolic meaning in various contexts, including mathematics (unique properties of the number 23), human biology (23 pairs of chromosomes), religion (Psalm 23), and numerology and astrology (angel number and the number of creativity). All these qualities of the number 23 align almost perfectly with the design principles and performance of the tt23 turntable.”

According to the manufacturer, the Soulines tt23 turntable is precision-milled and crafted from cast acrylic, Derlin (POM – an engineering plastic), and aluminum, which together create a relatively light yet extremely rigid construction. This solid yet lightweight construction prevents harmful resonance energy from being stored within the device. The logic behind this is that, without the excessive mass in which resonances can accumulate, they are almost entirely dissipated from the device itself.

The TT23's platter is 40 millimeters thick and weighs 3.5 kilograms. According to the designers, the platter is precision-milled from cast acrylic. Combined with the advanced main bearing system, this ensures smooth rotation and vibration-free and noise-free operation. The platter has a 1.0 millimeter deep recess on the top for an LP's paper label. This recess ensures that the LP sits flat on the turntable. A Soulines TT Clamp record clamp is included for additional record stability.
The advanced main bearing system and the massive aluminum arm plate are directly mounted to the aluminum base plate, which in turn is attached to the main plate with three-point linkages using rubber rings of varying thickness and diameter. The motor unit, made of Derlin (POM), is securely mounted to the main plate.

The reverse main bearing system features a stainless steel upper outer ring, a brass spindle sleeve, and a stainless steel spindle, and utilizes a Derlin thrust bearing. The auxiliary plate is machined from Derlin (POM engineering plastic) and is securely attached to the main bearing system.

The drive system is built around the same high-quality DC motor used in other top-of-the-line Soulines turntables. It is electronically controlled and, according to the manufacturer, ensures easy operation and precise speed adjustment. Speed changes and start/stop functions are controlled by the on/off switch and the 33 1/3 or 45 rpm selector switch. A pre-assembled Soulines KiVi M3 tonearm with a standard 5-pin DIN connector on the underside of the main arm is included with the tt23.

The tt23 turntable comes with Soulines' SA acrylic (plexiglass) dust cover, the aforementioned tt Clamp record clamp, and a cartridge alignment tool printed on 300gsm paper, with options for Baerwald, Loefgren, and Stevenson angle meters.
The dimensions of the tt23 table are 440 x 180 x 355 millimeters (W x H x D) and it weighs 14 kilograms.
